Things are returning back to normal in the studio after the busy @rhshydehall show last weekend. I have been experimenting with some new pink glazes after a rush for pink orders last month. I think people have been inspired by the Barbie film earlier in the year and need more pink in their lives and homes. Sunflowers are very popular at the moment, every week i have an order or 2 come through. Usually the orders are for gifts, which you can understand why, when you look into the meaning of the flower. This time I thought I would try out an idea of creating them as a wall piece. They are fascinating flowers as the middle of them is actually made up of thousands of little flowers. Their name derives from the fact that their heads turn to track the sun. At the weekend I was given a few #poppyseedheads by one of the lovely gardeners @scotneycastle_nt heritage event. The shape of the pods is so beautiful and sculptural that I am recreating them larger than life in clay. I often make small ones which I arrange with my ceramic poppies but this time I think I will make them bigger and use a lichen green glaze on them and fire to stoneware, so they can be placed outside. I have had the most lovely start to the week after such a busy weekend working at the heritage fair @scotneycastle_nt (thank you team it was an amazing event). I have just returned from the studios in #stleonards and have bought a piece of art from the talented @stevebettsart for my wedding anniversary. I saw his work @coastalcurrentsfestival and loved everything single piece, so choosing just one piece for our home and this special occasion was difficult. The new gazebo is up and filled with all my work, which has been created over the last few weeks. I always have a panic that I have not made enough and then always pleasantly surprised when everything is set up and the tables are full. I know I said I would not do another outside event again, but how could I say no to this one, in such a beautiful setting and with lovely weather forcasted. Another lovely day in the studio creating ceramic artworks for the art fair @blossomfairs in #battle which will be taking place this Saturday at Tilly’s Yard. I created the ceramic pieces for this one a few months ago but have been deliberating for ages the colour of glass I should use for the shiny strata layer. No this is not an arty photo of some randomly scat

No this is not an arty photo of some randomly scattered dried flowers, it is the result of a little field mouse having a great time feasting on my display flowers. One disadvantage of moving to the country is having to share my workshop with the local field mice. They must have thought they had struck lucky when I moved in, the workshop is heated most evenings with the kiln in constant use and a lovely selection of dried corn to feast on. They have nibbled all the heads off the wheat but have left the yellow Billy Balls. Lessons learn when I order more dried wheat bundles they are going in a lidded plastic tub 😂 #countrylife #mountfield #homestudio #behindthescenes #artistsoninstagram #artistlifestyle
